Pierce Brosnan has made an appearance in the March issue of GQ (on newsstands nationwide February 23). He posed for a photo spread where he tries on a number of suits, showing that he still has a great sense of style. He also had the following to say about his time as James Bond:

It was a no-man’s-land. You never felt the killing was harsh enough, that
the sex was hard enough. And you still had these clunky one-liners, which
were always embarrassing.

Mel Gibson has revealed that he’s been helping girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva with her music.

Gibson, 54, has been dating Russian musician Grigorieva since the beginning of 2009 and they have a three-month-old daughter Lucia together and he admitted in a new interview that he has been helping Grigorieva compose.

“I always felt the poetic urge coming, so I’ve been providing lyrics and stuff for a few of her songs. I’ve been writing poetry and stuff since I was a teenager. Didn’t want to admit that to my friends.”

The research released this week examines the power of shopping as a source of everyday happiness for women with over half (53 per cent) saying it’s the one form of self-pampering they could not live without.

Retail therapy tops the table as the most indulged in activity, with 51 per cent saying it’s the only thing that makes them feel good about themselves. Our twenties appear to be the decade of indulgence with more than half (52 per cent) claiming it is the age at which they spend most time pampering themselves. Somewhat disappointingly, when we reach our forties we tend to give up – only six per cent of the women surveyed said they spend time and money on any form of self-indulgence.

Celebrity stylist, Bradley Taylor, added:

“A spot of self-pampering is a necessity, especially in the busy and stressful run up to Christmas. As the research highlights, an overwhelming 43 per cent of women claim that if they don’t feel good about the way they look and feel, they struggle to enjoy themselves.

Nicole Richie says she feels ‘blessed’ to be living her life right now in an interview with the UK’s Marie Claire magazine.

The 28-year-old actress has two children, Harlow, two, and Sparrow, five months, with partner Joel Madden.

Before settling down, Richie had been involved in eating disorder rumours because of her slim frame and was arrested in 2003 for driving while in possession of heroin.

“I live my life and I do what I do, and sometimes you forget that people are watching you. Look, people can give reason after reason. To me, I’ve just accepted responsibility for what I’ve done, and I don’t really try and look at why I did it.

I just feel that I have gotten past it and moved on, and it’s just something that’s not really a part of my life any more. And I feel extremely blessed to live the life that I’m living.”

Obesity breakthrough New year-long trial reveals unprecedented weight loss success for obese Brits

A new trial has found that very low calorie diets are far more effective at tackling obesity than conventional diets, potentially putting an end to losing battles among drastically overweight Britons.

More than one in five women in the UK are overweight (21%*), with a similar number of men (17%) who measure a body mass index (BMI) of over 30. In comparison, a healthy weight is a BMI of between 20 and 25 according to the British Nutrition Foundation.

In a 12 month study, adult men and women with a BMI at or above 35 were entered a clinical trial of different diet interventions with the aim of achieving a five per cent weight loss. An initial test of eating 600 less calories per day than the recommended daily allowance for men/women. Those who failed to achieve the 5% weight loss were then put on either the low carbohydrate, high protein diet (LCHP) and a very low calorie diet (VLCD). The latter eating plan drastically cuts the amount of calories consumed by relying on diet of milkshakes.

At the end of the year-long trial, the average weight loss for the VLCD was 31 kilograms, compared to just four kilograms for the low carb/high protein diet, one of the country’s current fashionable eating fads.

The very low calorie programme, known as LighterLife, was also twice as successful as those who stuck with eating just 600 less calories per day, which reduced obese Brits’ weight by an average of 18kg. It also resulted in increased cardiovascular benefits and improvements in cholesterol.

The study was led by Professor Iain Broom, the director of the Centre for Obesity Research and Epidemiology at Robert Gordon University and a professor of metabolic medicine at the University of Aberdeen.

Professor Broom said: “This shows how a very low calorie diet can provide excellent weight loss for obese people in both the short and long term, including those patients who have failed other dietary approaches.”

“The cholesterol benefits are also considerable, as are the lean body mass results which demonstrate that patients see the very same changes in their body composition as those on a conventional diet – there was no difference in the amount of lean body mass change, suggesting that cardiac muscle was not affected by VLCD therapy.”

The study supports what LighterLife seeks to achieve with every client who undertakes it, greater weight loss results and an immediate solution to the side effects obesity such as high cholesterol and restricted movement. It demonstrates that for people living with obesity a very low calorie diet can be the solution they’ve been looking for.

Joe Jonas has spoken out to deny rumors the Jonas Brothers are splitting up.

Despite buzz to the contrary, and Nick Jonas’s continuing solo project, Joe has confirmed the band will go on in an interview with People magazine.

“We are happy being a band, and it’s what we’ve always wanted to do, We are not breaking up. There’s no reason for us to do that.”

Andy Dick was arrested on charges of first degree sexual abuse around 4 a.m. Saturday after performing at the Rum Runners comedy club in Huntington, West Virginia.

Criminal complaints were filed by a security guard at the club who says Dick "grabbed my crotch and began laughing when I tried to give him and armband." The second criminal complaint was filed by a customer who says he ws talking to Dick when he "unexpectedly, and without invitation, grabbed my crotch, repeatedly groping me, and kissing me."

The manager, Tom Schaefer, says he was with Dick at the time he was performing at the club, and didn’t witness the incidents.

Phillip Daniels, a bouncer at Rum Runners said about Dick:

"You could tell he was really out of it. He was on something."

A press release from the Huntington Police Department says:

"Based upon statements of two victims and independent witness accounts alleging that he had engaged in unwanted and uninvited groping of the two victims’ genital areas, Andrew R. Dick (AKA Andy Dick) of South Pasadena, California, was arrested and charged with two counts of Sex Abuse in the First Degree."

Jonathan Kraft, a regular customer at Rum Runners, says the night Dick was arrested he went right up to Dick and bought him a drink.

Kraft says he introduced Dick to the owner and at one point Dick tried to kiss him, but Kraft told him:

"I’m not down with that."

Kraft says he has no intention of filing any complaint and he calls the charges against Dick "dumb" and "stupid," saying, "He’s nationally known as a weird guy."

Dick is weird, but that doesn’t give him the right to physically grope people that didn’t give him permission.
